Buenos Aires mon amour
Buenos Aires is the UNESCO World Book Capital 2011 and that's fair enough since, according to Die Zeit, the people of Buenos Aires read everything - from tabloids to sociology essays, from best sellers to classics of American literature - and everywhere - in the subway, under the trees, sitting on the ground, drinking a coffee.
In Buenos Aires there are indeed nine hundred bookshops, one per 6000 inhabitants. Due to the good occasion, Guido Indij has recently published "El libro de los libros", an essay dedicated to the bookshops of Buenos Aires. It is properly a special guide which tracks down more than 350 bookstores and proposes different “reading paths” throughout the city.
The program will start on World Book and Copyright Day on 23 April 2011 and will see local and national book industries working together to raise the awareness for book culture.
